ET Research is the Topic of Our Latest Education Event
Learn what’s happening in essential tremor research by watching the IETF’s newest recorded Virtual Education Event, “Research in Essential Tremor.”
Dr. Holly Shill, director of the Lonnie and Muhammad Ali Movement Disorder Center at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, is the guest presenter. Shill also serves as chair of the IETF’s medical advisory board.
In her presentation, she discusses what research has revealed about the cause of ET, the hereditary aspects of the condition and ET’s relationship to Parkinson’s disease. She also talks about new treatment studies under way as well as results of completed research in this area.
The IETF has a library of ET Virtual Education Events online. Topics include diagnosis and treatment options, pediatric onset and coping techniques, plus more.
Scholarships Available for College Students with ET
Are you a college student who has essential tremor? Check out the scholarship opportunity the International Essential Tremor Foundation offers.
Each semester, the IETF awards four scholarships to current or college-bound students who have been diagnosed with essential tremor. The $1,000 scholarships help support these students with their higher education goals. The deadline for fall scholarship applications is May 1, 2022.
Scholarships are awarded based on academic success, community service, leadership skills and an essay submission. Applications and more details are available on the IETF website.
If you are the parent or grandparent of a college student who may qualify, help spread the word!
