I have a prescription for this from my neurologist, but I went to see how and where I could buy it. The Cal Taps therapy and I it says it has to be through your physician. Well I called my physician and she said well we don’t buy things like that so I really would like to be a part of it. I participate in a Clinical Trial with a similar device now that it’s approved. I want it. I’m an artist. It’s important to my life. Please help me.
Yes, you are on the right track if you got a prescription from your doctor. We reached out to Cala and here’s what they said:
Due to federal law classifying the Cala kIQ system as a medical device, a patient cannot purchase it directly without a prescription from a healthcare provider. The process requires consulting a doctor, obtaining a prescription, and then working with Cala Health for device fulfillment.
Here is the recommended process for the patient to receive the Cala TAPS therapy:
1. Talk to Your Doctor: The patient should discuss the Cala kIQ system with their healthcare provider, such as a neurologist or movement disorder specialist.
2. Request a Prescription: The doctor can initiate the process by providing a prescription. Alternatively, the patient can start by completing an online eligibility survey.
3. Receive the Device: Once the doctor sends the prescription to Cala Health, we handle the approval and shipping of the device directly to the patient’s home. Our Cala team will provide instructions and support to get started with therapy.
Regarding insurance and costs:
– Coverage varies by individual insurance plan. Cala Health works with patients to help them understand their benefits and out-of-pocket costs.
– Medicare has specific criteria for coverage, typically requiring an initial visit and a trial period with the device.
– The VA also has coverage policies in place for veterans.
