Alyssa realized at a very young age that helping others was her passion. She spent five years in a program called Youth and Government learning about writing laws, debating policy and understanding government operations. Her goal is to attend law school some day and possibly become involved in the nonprofit sector. She wants to make changes that impact people and communities in a positive way.
Sometimes her essential tremor keeps her public performances and activities. It also affects her ability to eat, apply make-up and enjoy daily activities. While her shaking hands have become her new norm, so has spreading awareness about essential tremor. She wants to shine a light on ET so advancements can be made toward a cure.
Alyssa has received two scholarships from the IETF: one in the fall of 2019 and one in the spring of 2020. She is a student at Trinity University, in San Antonio.
