Fall - 2012

Please consider a gift in honor of or in memory of someone you know.
What is Essential Tremor?
Also known as familial tremor, benign essential tremor or hereditary tremor, essential tremor (ET) is a neurological condition that causes a rhythmic trembling of the hands, head, voice, legs or trunk. It is often confused with Parkinson’s disease and dystonia. Because of stereotypes and a lack of awareness, many people with ET never seek medical care though most would benefit from treatment. Learn more about ET.

The IETF Mission
The IETF funds research to find the cause of essential tremor (ET) that leads to treatments and a cure, increases awareness, and provides educational materials, tools, and support for healthcare providers, the public, and those affected by ET. Learn more about the IETF.

Where has my button been?
We’re always looking for new ways to bring essential tremor into the public eye. Show your support for this endeavor by wearing our brand new button! Take pictures of where you (and your button) have been, then share them on the IETF's Facebook page. Let’s see how many different and exotic places these stylish buttons travel. Learn how to get your very own buttons and how to get involved.

Essential Tremor vs. Parkinson's Disease: How Do They Differ?

Members of the IETF Medical Advisory Board created a simple reference guide that lists basic distinctions between ET and PD signs and symptoms. Visit https://www.essentialtremor.org/Free-ET-Publications to download this guide and other free materials.

The Symbology of the IETF Logo
The centerpiece of the IETF logo is the Archimedes Spiral, which - when drawn by a patient - is used as a diagnostic tool for ET.
